Highways' food pantry was recently profiled in the Bayonne Baysider:

Food for Thought: Spotlight on Highways Food Pantry

When most people think of food pantries, they think of the homeless. But that's not necessarily the case, said Joanne Dost, social worker with the Highways Food Pantry in Bayonne.

"The people we're helping all have incomes," said Dost. "Some are from single-parent households with two or three kids; seniors who just need a little help to get to the next paycheck, to the next month. A lot of people are in this situation not because they're lazy, but because of circumstances. My mantra is, 'There but for the grace of God.' You never know what's going to happen to you."

Dost said Highways helps about 45 to 50 families per month. That number jumps to about 75 families during the holidays, when the pantry also hands out baskets with holiday meals...
